            Le vampire dans la littérature romantique française, 1820-1868 : Textes et documents

            Abstract
            Apparu en Europe centrale au xviie siècle, le vampire est une figure de l’imaginaire née de la confrontation de l’Occident et du monde ottoman. L’auteur présente la naissance de ce thème en Europe centrale, la construction d’un mythe du vampire. Il analyse son évolution en motif littéraire lorsque le vampire perd sa dimension explicatrice du réel en arrivant en France et en Grande-Bretagne. Le vampire devient un jeu romantique. L’étude est accompagnée du corpus des textes qui ont forgé l’image du vampire : la nouvelle fondatrice de Polidori ; le roman initial de Bérard ; les trois adaptations théâtrales de Nodier, Scribe et Dumas ; la nouvelle de Gautier et celle, en extraits, de Mérimée. Cet ouvrage intéressera un large public, du lecteur de textes fantastiques au spécialiste du romantisme.

            Export search results
