            La musique du Cambodge et du Laos

            Abstract
            La musique du Cambodge et du Laos constitue un système musical particulier et très riche, provenant d’un fonds autochtone mom-khmer, ainsi que d’influences indiennes classiques, malayo-indonésiennes, sino-thaï et chinoises. Il existe quatre systèmes musicaux nettement distincts, représentés par l’orchestre à percussion, l’orchestre à cordes populaire, la musique de khène et le chant religieux. L’ouvrage analyse les causes de la dégénérescence de cette musique, due à l’influence des systèmes chinois et surtout européen, entraînant une paralysie dans le développement de l’improvisation et l’accord erroné des instruments sur des critères exogènes, ce qui conduit à une véritable désintégration culturelle. Les principaux modes musicaux sont transcrits, les descriptions d’instruments sont illustrées de schémas et de photographies. Une bibliographie est incluse.
