Abstract

Digital literacy has evolved from a basic technical skill to a comprehensive set of essential competencies for participating today, characterized by the rapid development of information technologies. The current question lies in how different social groups, such as digital natives and digital immigrants, face the challenges of adapting to this technological environment. To address this, a literature review methodology was used to understand how the concept has evolved and what competencies are now essential to interact successfully in the digital age. The findings show that digital literacy goes beyond the mere use of digital tools; It also involves the critical ability to evaluate information and participate ethically in the digital world. In conclusion, the study emphasizes the need to reduce the digital divide and encourage the development of critical skills so that citizens can fully integrate into the digital economy and adapt to technological changes.
