This book contains the studies presented at the closing conference of the multi-year scientific programme of the École des Hautes Études Hispaniques et Ibériques-EHEHI (Casa de Velázquez, Madrid) entitled ‘MISSIVA, Letters from Women in Medieval Europe (Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, 8th-15th centuries)’.In this book, the authors pay particular attention to discourse in order to identify the typical formulas used in women's letters according to chancery practices, geographical areas or writing contexts. They also study the expression of emotions and feelings, distinguishing between recurring discursive processes and specific formulations. Through the arguments developed in the documents, they highlight the discursive strategies that women used in their correspondence to achieve their ends.
