Abstract

Proceedings of the 44th SISFA National Congress, held in Florence in September 2024, with the participation of about 90 Italian and international scholars. The congress explored the history of physics and astronomy, epistemology, scientific education, and the preservation of historical heritage, and featured four special sessions: From Information to Artificial Intelligence, tracing the evolution of communication, from Marconi to cybernetics and AI. From Quantum Statistics to Condensed Matter Physics, celebrating a century of Bose-Einstein statistics and its influence on modern physics. 1924–2024: Edwin Hubble and the Evolution of Modern Cosmology, revisiting Hubble’s breakthrough discovery and its lasting impact on astrophysics. 100 Years since the Birth of the University of Florence & In Memory of Giuseppe Occhialini, honoring the University’s centenary and Occhialini’s contributions to Italian physics. This volume collects accurate studies exploring the evolution of scientific thought and the history of the sciences.

Atti del XLIV Congresso Nazionale SISFA, tenutosi a Firenze nel settembre 2024, con la partecipazione di circa 90 studiosi italiani e internazionali. Il congresso ha indagato la storia della fisica e dell'astronomia, l'epistemologia, l'educazione scientifica e la conservazione del patrimonio storico e ha presentato quattro sessioni speciali: Dall’informazione all’intelligenza artificiale, tracciando l’evoluzione della comunicazione, da Marconi alla cibernetica e all’IA; Dalla statistica quantistica alla fisica della materia condensata: celebrando un secolo di statistica di Bose-Einstein e della sua influenza sulla fisica moderna; 1924–2024: Edwin Hubble e l’evoluzione della cosmologia moderna, ripercorrendo la scoperta di Hubble e il suo impatto sull’astrofisica; 100 anni dalla nascita dell’Università di Firenze e In memoria di Giuseppe Occhialini, onorando il centenario dell’Università e i contributi di Occhialini alla fisica italiana. Questo volume raccoglie studi accurati che esplorano l'evoluzione del pensiero scientifico e la storia delle scienze.
