Abstract
This book explores the processes involved in converting industrial heritage, particularly those aimed at accommodating new economic uses. It examines the role assigned to this legacy in the policies of regions facing environmental challenges; reflects on the notion of living heritage—that is, historical objects that are difficult to fix in time; and finally, demonstrates how these often-derelict sites can become assets for regions that embrace them.Richly illustrated, the book offers readers a new perspective on industrial heritage as a tool for regional development and ecological transition. It is intended for heritage enthusiasts, public stakeholders, as well as students and researchers interested in the subject.
