Luxury stories. The art of silver and other sumptuous arts is an exhaustive compendium that explores, from different perspectives, evolution and importance of the arts aimed at realizing the opulent and the lavish throughout history. From ancient times to almost our days, this book analyzes the artistic, cultural, social and heritage context that has shaped these practices, as well as their meaning in different chronological periods and cultures. With a rigorous approach, the work examines how luxury has been perceived, produced and consumed over time, highlighting the relevance and significance of the work of goldsmiths, silversmiths and jewelers, to whom we must add that of those other artists and teachers, such as embroiders, weavers, cabinetmakers, etc., in the materialization of status, identity and power.Through case studies, analysis and interpretation of historical and social objects and testimonies, a detailed vision of the interaction between art, society and economics in the field of luxury is offered. This book is, therefore, an indispensable tool for academics, students and enthusiasts interested in understanding the complexities of art destined to show magnificence and its role in the configuration of material culture. With a solid theoretical basis and an interdisciplinary approach, luxury stories invites you to reflect on the social and cultural dynamics that underlie the production and consumption of sumptuous objects.
