This systemic review aimed to explore the current literature on process management, focusing on its application in companies. The adopted research methodology was qualitative, through a systematic review. Inclusion criteria were applied, such as books, theses, and scientific articles, collected from databases like Scopus, Scielo, Redalyc, and Google Scholar. The selection was limited to publications related to process management between 2011 and 2022, using keywords such as "process management" and "business process management," identifying a total of 90 research works among articles, theses, and books that underwent inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 30 documents for final review. The results indicate that process management is crucial for companies, improving profitability and satisfying customers. Furthermore, the integration of information technologies gives rise to business process management. It is concluded that the implementation of process management and business process management systems are key strategic factors for reducing costs and increasing profitability. These methodologies are adopted by organizations to model, improve, and automate business processes, aiming to increase quality, efficiency, and agility. It is suggested not to view process management as an isolated task but as a mindset that drives the company's day-to-day operations. From identifying critical processes to implementing improvements, each step should be guided by the desire for efficiency, effectiveness, and excellence.
