Abstract

This open access handbook is the course book adopted by the faculty of law at the University of Milan for the course entitled: “Smart Cities, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Law”. The subject matters analysed in the book are divided in three parts. The first part focuses on the digital transformation law relevant to the advent of legal informatics, the need for digital skills and literacy, the European digital strategy, and on the American and Chinese approach to the digital society. The second part focuses on the relevant issues connected to artificial intelligence with a specific focus on data protection, healthcare, ethics and copyright. Finally, the third part provides a framework on smart cities, computer crimes and data protection. Students, professionals and scholars around the world are welcome to read this handbook to study the legal and technical aspects of the digital environment. Teachers are welcome to adopt it for their digital and non-digital courses.

Questo manuale open access è il libro di testo adottato dalla Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell’Università degli Studi di Milano per il corso: “Smart Cities, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Law”. Gli argomenti trattati nel libro sono suddivisi in tre parti. La prima parte si focalizza sul diritto della trasformazione digitale in relazione all’avvento dell’informatica giuridica, sulla necessità di competenze e alfabetizzazione digitale, sulla strategia digitale europea e sull’approccio americano e cinese alla società digitale. La seconda parte si concentra sulle questioni legate all’intelligenza artificiale, ponendo particolare attenzione alla protezione dei dati, all’assistenza sanitaria, all’etica e al copyright. Infine, la terza parte fornisce un quadro sulle smart cities, i crimini informatici e la protezione dei dati personali. Studenti, professionisti e studiosi di tutto il mondo sono incoraggiati a leggere questo manuale per studiare gli aspetti legali e tecnici dell’ambiente digitale. Gli insegnanti sono i benvenuti a adottarlo per i propri corsi di insegnamento nelle materie digitali che in altre materie.
