Abstract

The book The Algorithm of Life: A Bridge Between Science, Religion and Philosophy proposes an integrative vision of human existence from the three great routes of knowledge – science, philosophy and religion – with the purpose of understanding the meaning of life. The work proposes the "algorithm of life" as an epistemic and ontological metaphor that describes vital processes as organized systems of information, interaction and transcendence. Throughout their chapters, the authors examine the origin and evolution of life, scientific hypotheses (panspermia, spontaneous generation and chemical evolution), biological complexity and the spiritual dimension of the human being. It explores the relationship between evolution and consciousness, good and evil, transcendence, and the meaning of death and immortality, incorporating insights from thinkers such as Spinoza, Machiavelli, Heidegger, Buddha, and Jesus. The didactic structure of the text—which includes diagrams, glossaries, and "life lessons"—allows for both an academic and reflective approach, promoting dialogue between science and spirituality. Overall, the book develops a philosophical-scientific proposal that invites us to think of life as a continuous process of self-construction, where reason, faith and ethics converge in the search for existential peace and the understanding of the mystery of being.
