dc.description.abstractThis book deals with the local history of Bordesholm from the first traces of human life in the current municipal territory to the present. A group of five expert regional historians explores this history on the basis of an intensive investigation of primary sources in conjunction with the latest research. The result is a volume written in accessible language that offers many surprising new insights. It can now be stated with certainty, for example, that the long-standing consensus which has seen 1327 celebrated and memorialised as Bordesholm's medieval birthdate can no longer stand up to critical scrutiny. The new local history entitled Bordesholm in der Geschichte is published under the editorship of the renowned Kiel regional historian Oliver Auge as volume seven of the scholarly series Nordelbische Ortsgeschichten.en_US

Ein Autorenkollektiv von insgesamt fünf fachkundigen Regionalhistorikern hat diese Geschichte auf der Grundlage intensiver Quellenstudien und im Abgleich mit dem aktuellen Forschungsstand eingehend untersucht und verständlich niedergeschrieben. Das so entstandene Buch wartet mit überraschend vielen neuen Erkenntnissen auf. So lässt sich etwa mit Sicherheit konstatieren, dass das lange Zeit als mittelalterliches Geburtsjahr Bordesholms gefeierte und memorierte Jahr 1327 einer quellenbasierten Überprüfung nicht standzuhalten vermag. Die neue Ortsgeschichte mit dem Titel Bordesholm in der Geschichte erscheint unter der Herausgeberschaft des renommierten Kieler Regionalhistorikers Oliver Auge als siebter Band der wissenschaftlichen Reihe Nordelbische Ortsgeschichten.en_US
