    Abstract
    Ce dossier s’attache à présenter tant le personnage connu sous le nom de Tiki ou Ti’i en Polynésie, que les figurations anthropomorphes du même nom. L’évocation de quelques cosmogonies et mythologies essentielles permet de situer ce personnage qui apparaît ainsi comme le premier homme, maillon initial d’une longue histoire et comme le parangon des ancêtres déifiés vénérés par les Polynésiens. Les auteurs propose ensuite une analyse des formes et fonctions des tiki des Marquises et des ti’i des îles de la Société. Un chapitre est consacré à la grande famille des figurations anthropomorphes de l’aire culturelle polynésienne. Enfin, le tiki est envisagé dans son contexte contemporain : artistes océaniens et du monde puisent en cette figure emblématique ancestrale toutes sortes d’images. D’un domaine lié au sacré dans les cultures de Polynésie, le tiki s’inscrit désormais dans un système mondialisé, mêlant art, commerce, spectacle, patrimoine.

    Export search results
